Following our earlier article about the UK government’s Brexit impact analysis report, details have emerged of the arrangements put in place for Scotland’s MSPs to view the report.

Joan McAlpine, the SNP MSP for South Scotland has tweeted a copy of a letter sent by Robin Walker of the Department for Exiting the European Union to MSPs. In the tweet she describes herself as “Incredulous and angry” at the content of the letter and remarks on the “total contempt” shown to the Scottish Parliament by the department and by David Davis.

The letter states that MSPs may book an appointment to view the report in a confidential reading room in Edinburgh today and tomorrow. However the times available today are when the chamber is sitting and tomorrow will see most MSPs in their constituencies.

The most contentious and outrageous part of the letter though is when it stipulates that a UK government official will be watching over the MSPs at all times while they are reading the report.

EDIT: It appears from further information coming out that those MSPs who have been to see the analysis have only been given access to the even numbered pages. The contempt is strong in this one dear reader!!

EDIT 2: Leanne Wood of Plaid Cymru has just tweeted that Welsh AMs have received the same letter with details for a viewing in Cardiff.
