The European Parliament Election in Scotland brought a great result for the SNP with the party winning 3 of the 6 available seats with 38% of the vote. They came first in 30 out of 32 Council areas and had a total number of votes which was more than the Tories, Labour, the Brexit Party and UKIP combined.

The remaining 3 seats saw the Brexit Party, the Lib Dems and the Tories winning 1 each.

In a blow to the Conservatives and Labour they came 4th and 5th respectively on vote share, and it was a disappointing result for the Greens who could only come 6th.

At the Seat 6 count the SNP had 148,638 Votes still ahead of Labour’s total of 146,274 but would have needed a total vote of 729,908 (182,477 x 4) to take the seat so fell 135,355 short.
